Chlordiazepoxide/Clidinium Capsule/Tablet

This medicine is used together with other medicines to treat stomach ulcers and irritable bowel syndrome (a disorder affecting the large bowel characterized by stomach cramps, pain, bloating, diarrhea or constipation).
This medicine improves certain stomach or bowel condition by relieving anxiety and reducing digestive secretion.
- Take as directed by your doctor or according to the instructions on the label. Do not take more or less than instructed by your doctor.
- Take it on an empty stomach, at least 30 minutes to 1 hour before meals and at bedtime. Try to take it at the same time each day. It must be taken regularly for it to be effective. Continue taking this medicine even when you feel better. Do not stop taking it suddenly as this may worsen your condition.
If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your usual timing. Do not take two doses at the same time to make up for the missed dose.
Inform your healthcare professional if:
- History of drug or alcohol abuse
- Depression
- Heart disease
- Lung disease
- Kidney disease
- Liver disease
- Physically or mentally weak due to an illness
This medicine may affect the ability of your body to adjust to temperature changes in the environment. Avoid exposure to very cold or very hot environments. Avoid strenuous exercise and activities like going to the sauna. Drink more water to prevent dehydration.
The most common side effects are:
- Drowsiness or blurred vision. If affected, do not drive or take part in any activity which you need to be alert or need to see clearly
- Constipation, nausea
- Dry mouth, problems urinating
- Skin eruption and swelling in the hands, feet or legs.
Inform your healthcare professional if these side effects do not go away and are bothersome to you.
Rare but serious side effects may manifest as the following symptoms. If you notice any of the following, please contact your doctor as soon as possible:
- Aggression or aggressive behavior
- Signs of withdrawal symptoms such as fits or seizures, tremor, stomach and muscle cramps, sweating, difficulty sleeping
- Sores in the mouth or throat, fever, chills
Inform your healthcare professional if these side effects do not go away or are severe.
The symptoms of a drug allergy include one or more of the following:
- Swollen face/eyes/lips/tongue
- Difficulty in breathing
- Itchy skin rashes over your whole body
If you experience any of these symptoms, you should stop your medication and see your healthcare professional immediately.
Store in a cool and dry place, away from direct sunlight.
Pack this medication into a black trash bag and seal it tightly before throwing into the rubbish chute or bin.
