Care in the Community

Healthy Precinct

2026/03/23

A Healthy Precinct is a neighbourhood designed to make healthy living easy, accessible, and part of everyday life. Beyond individual effort, it brings together residents, community partners, and care providers to create a supportive environment where wellbeing is woven into daily routines.

Supporting Health in the Community

Healthy Precinct adopts a place‑based approach to support residents’ health and wellbeing in the community.
They bring together community partners, health and social agencies to translate population health strategies into coordinated efforts within neighbourhoods.

By aligning preventive care, active ageing initiatives, social connection and ongoing support in everyday community settings, Healthy Precincts create environments that make it easier for residents to stay well, receive help early, and live healthier, more independent lives where they live, work and age.

Four Key Facets of A Healthy Precinct

Community
Building a friendly and supportive community where residents feel connected and are encouraged to live healthier together.

Care & Support
Making sure help is easily
available by tapping on existing social networks and community partnerships.

Environment
Environment shapes how people live each day. When shared spaces are used to encourage movement and interaction, healthy living becomes part of daily routines.

Enablers
Enablers support the ecosystem by fostering strong partnerships, sharing information, and using data and technology to identify needs early and coordinate efforts.
