Boon Lay Steps Challenge

The Boon Lay Steps Challenge is a community initiative that encourages residents to stay active by tracking their daily steps and moving more everyday. The challenge allowed residents to form interest groups, build social connections, and incorporate regular physical activity into their daily routines in a supportive community setting.

Pilot Frailty Screening for Seniors

In August 2024, a pilot frailty screening was conducted at the NTUC Health Active Ageing Centre in Boon Lay for seniors living in nearby rental blocks. The screening included basic physical assessments and a simple frailty evaluation to identify early risks and support timely intervention, enabling seniors to maintain independence and age well within the community.

Boon Lay Wellness Activity Calendar

The Quarterly Wellness Activity Calendar brings together regular activities and upcoming events across the neighbourhood, focusing on physical activity, health education, social engagement, and community gatherings. Compiled quarterly with inputs from People’s Association (PA), grassroots organisations, and community partners, the calendar helps residents stay informed and take part in wellness activities close to home.

Pop-up Market for Lower Income Families

Held at Boon Lay Community Club in September 2024, the pop‑up market brought essential groceries and household items directly to lower‑income families. The initiative helped ease day‑to‑day financial pressures while creating opportunities for connection and support within the community.

Outreach at coffee shops at Healthy Precinct

Outreach at Coffee Shops

Outreach efforts extended to coffee shops through the SilverDreamsHub – Kopitiam Initiative by Empower Ageing, bringing engagement directly into familiar spaces where many seniors regularly gather.

 

Boon Lay Health Carnival

Boon Lay Health Carnival

The Boon Lay Health Carnival in June 2024 brought residents and community partners together in one shared space. Residents visited booths by healthcare, social service, and community groups, took part in simple activities, and learnt more about the support available in their neighbourhood.
Engaging seniors

Engaging Seniors at Risk of Social Isolation

In May and June 2024, People's Association (PA) and Thye Hua Kwan Moral Charities (THKMC) carried out targeted outreach to seniors who may be living alone, have limited social connections, or require additional support. The effort aimed to foster social connection and identify seniors who could benefit from ongoing community and care services.
