At NUHS, we build capability in Appropriate and Value-Based Care (AVBC) through education, training and workshops. Our programmes support healthcare professionals in understanding value-based healthcare, outcomes measurement and care improvement. We focus on practical learning. Healthcare professionals gain skills to apply value-based principles in everyday care. This includes designing care pathways, measuring outcomes, and using data to improve quality.
We also contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate education in Singapore. By introducing value-based healthcare early, we help future healthcare professionals understand how care decisions affect patient outcomes, experience and sustainability.
Through teaching, mentorship, and applied learning, we equip healthcare teams with the mindset and skills to deliver care that is appropriate, patient-centred, and value-driven in an evolving healthcare landscape.
Healthcare informatics plays an integral role in the delivery of healthcare and is fundamental to improving care quality and outcomes. The Health Informatics and Data Visualisation course introduces foundational concepts in healthcare informatics, healthcare data and the regulations governing its use, consumer health technologies, and the basics of data visualisation. Delivered by experienced faculty, the course incorporates case studies, guided discussions, and hands‑on experience with selected consumer health technologies and a data visualisation tool.

Introducing Value Based Healthcare at the undergraduate level helps shape the mindset of future healthcare professionals early in their training. By exposing students to the principles of measuring outcomes that matter to patients, improving care quality, and using healthcare resources responsibly, Value Based Healthcare education promotes a patient centred and data driven approach to care delivery. It also highlights the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in improving health system performance. Embedding these concepts early prepares the next generation of clinicians to contribute meaningfully to a healthcare system that is high quality, sustainable, and focused on delivering value for patients and the population.
