Biosketch

Dr. Tan Yong Chuan graduated from the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore (NUS). He went on to obtain postgraduate qualifications including the Membership of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the United Kingdom and the Master of Medicine (Internal Medicine) from NUS. He also holds a Graduate Diploma in Family Medicine from NUS.

He completed his residency training in Internal Medicine at Singapore General Hospital, before pursuing senior residency training in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the National University Hospital.

Dr. Tan’s clinical and research interests are in Hepatology, with a particular focus on chronic hepatitis B. He has published in leading international journals including Journal of Hepatology, Gastroenterology, and Liver International. In recognition of his work on novel treatment strategies for chronic hepatitis B, he was awarded the competitive NUHS Clinician-Scientist Programme (CSP) 2.0 Grant, which supports his efforts to advance translational therapeutics for liver disease.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Tan is committed to teaching and mentorship, guiding medical students, residents, and junior doctors in gastroenterology and hepatology. He is also involved in public education and advocacy, having shared his expertise at a community forum to promote awareness of liver health.
