Family Medicine

The NUHS Family Medicine Residency Programme started in response to a vision to produce generalists who are equipped with sound clinical judgement, a scholastic attitude and a heart to serve patients and society. Holistic generalist care is needed in our age of subspecialisation so that we minimise fragmentation and ensure that care delivery is well co-ordinated and patient-centric.

Family Medicine has a proud tradition in NUS/NUH, starting out as part of the Community, Occupational and Family Medicine (COFM) in 1987 and subsequently becoming part of the University Medicine Cluster as the Family Medicine Division of National University Hospital in 2008.

The NUHS Family Medicine Residency Programme had its inception in 2011. We are now into our 7th intake of Family Medicine residents. In 2014, the faculty came together to articulate our vision and mission as well as the qualities we hope to inculcate in our residents.
