Adj Asst Prof Rishi Malhotra graduated with BMedSci (Hons) and BMBS from the University of Nottingham in 2009. He then worked in the NHS system in UK for 3 years. After completing his MRCS surgical degree, he migrated to Singapore in 2012 to pursue a career in Orthopaedics. He completed his residency training from 2015 to 2021 in the National University Health System. After completing his FRCS degree, in 2022 he joined the Paediatric Orthopaedic division of the National University Hospital. He enjoys working with children and mainly treats children's fractures, sport related injuries and is developing his skills in deformity correction.
Adj Asst Prof Rishi has been involved in over 20 research publications during his surgical training including a clinical study to assess the potential benefits of stem cells in fracture healing, for which he was won several grants. He has written book chapters for diabetic foot surgery and orthopaedic anatomy and for general undergraduate orthopaedics.
Adj Asst Prof Rishi is actively involved in medical education and is an enthusiastic teacher when he imparts his knowledge to medical students and junior doctors. He believes that teaching effectively is an art and hopes to inspire the next generation of surgeons. As such he was appointed as the Assistant Program Director of the orthopaedic residency program from 2023 to 2024 and is currently the Co-director of orthopaedic post-graduate education. He has also be working in the role of Deputy clinical director in his department since 2024.
Outside of work Adj Asst Prof Rishi enjoys cycling, tennis, playing the guitar and spending time with his family.
