Adjunct Assistant Professor Pradeep Durai is Head of the Division of Urology at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital, where he leads a multidisciplinary team advancing patient-centred urologic care. A fellowship-trained robotic surgeon, he specialises in urologic oncology and endourology, with expertise in minimally invasive procedures for kidney cancers, complex kidney stones, and benign prostatic hyperplasia. He performs Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate (HoLEP), a high-precision treatment for enlarged prostate conditions.
Dr Pradeep completed his Urology Residency at the National University Health System (NUHS) in 2019, where he was recognised as the best performing graduating resident and received the College of Surgeons Gold Medal from the Academy of Medicine, Singapore. He achieved the highest score in the FRCS (Urology) examination conducted by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow in Kuala Lumpur in 2019, and completed one year Ministry of Health HMDP-funded fellowship in upper urinary tract oncology and reconstructive surgery at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Glasgow in 2024.
As an advocate for medical education, Dr Pradeep holds an Adjunct Assistant Professor appointment at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore, and served as Associate Programme Director for the NUHS Urology Residency Programme from 2022 to 2025. He played a key role in developing Entrusted Professional Activities (EPAs) for Urology training in Singapore, strengthening national standards for competency-based surgical education.
His academic contributions include publications in urologic oncology, endourology, and surgical innovation. His research has received awards including the Best Abstract Award at the Urological Association of Asia (UAA) and honours for translational research. He remains actively involved in grant-funded studies focusing on technological advancements in urologic care, surgical training, and patient outcomes.
Dr Pradeep has held leadership positions including membership on the Executive Committee of the Singapore Urological Association and the editorial team of the College of Surgeons Newsletter. He was appointed Co-Scientific Chair of UROFAIR 2025, advancing urology education regionally. He is also recognised for his medical illustration work, with publications in peer-reviewed journals. Dr Pradeep is known for his patient-centred approach and ability to communicate complex conditions accessibly. His practice is guided by the principle that surgical excellence and compassionate care are inseparable.
