Dr Dawn KA Lim is a Senior Consultant Ophthalmologist with the Glaucoma Division and the Head of Ocular Immunology in the National University Hospital (NUH). As a recipient of Singapore’s prestigious Ministry of Health Training Scholarship, she completed her specialist training locally before undertaking a clinical fellowship with surgical training at the renowned Moorfields Eye Hospital, NHS Foundation Trust, London, United Kingdom. The centre receives the most complex eye cases within the United Kingdom.
Dr Lim has dual sub-specialty interests in the surgical and medical management of glaucoma and uveitis. Her surgical practice includes glaucoma lasers and surgeries, uveitic cataracts, complex refractive cataract surgery including femtosecond laser assisted cataract surgery (FLACS), sutureless and suture-aided techniques for the scleral fixation of intraocular lenses.
Harnessing the tertiary-quaternary care expertise within NUH and as lead of the Ocular Immunology Service in the National University Health System (NUHS), she collaboratively established the Eye and Rheumatology in Adults (ERA) clinic and Paediatric Ocular Inflammatory Service (POISE). These services are now jointly run by specialists from the cluster’s Ophthalmology, Adult Rheumatology and Paediatric Rheumatology units. This service is unique to NUHS in Singapore, combining expertise in immunotherapy, uveitis management, glaucoma and vitreoretinal input in a single clinic visit. As a multiple time recipient of the Incredible Care Award, Dr Lim demonstrates her dedication to patient-centered care.
Dr Lim concurrently holds the position of Assistant Professor with the Department of Ophthalmology, National University of Singapore (NUS). Her main research interests include surgical glaucoma and uveitic glaucoma. She has led, co-authored and published multiple scientific papers in medical journals, and has also presented her work as an invited speaker at regional and international conferences. Dr Lim also serves as a reviewer in several peer- reviewed journals, and has contributed multiple book chapters to ophthalmology texts, including Yanoff & Duker.
