Biosketch

A/Prof Citra Mattar graduated from the National University of Singapore Medical School in 1999. She underwent basic and advanced specialist training on Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the National University Hospital and Kendang Kerbau Women and Children's Hospital. She obtained her post-graduate degrees in 2004 and 2005; these were the MMed (O&G) Singapore and Membership in the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Following completion of training and specialist accreditation, she took time off from clinical practice to pursue a PhD in Fetal Gene and Stem Cell Therapy (awarded in 2012), including a one year NMRC Research Fellowship at University College London, UK in 2010. She also obtained subspecialty training in fetoscopic laser photocoagulation at the Siriraj Hospital in Bangkok, Thailand in 2017 under the Academic Medicine Development Award.

In addition to her clinical role, she is Associate Professor in O&G with the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS. She is Research Director of O&G, Postgraduate Core Faculty member, Principle Investigator in the Experimental Fetal Medicine Group, and Fellow of the College of Clinician Scientists and the College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. Her main research interests include fetal medicine for genetic diseases via intrauterine and perinatal stem cell and gene therapy, fetal cardiac malformations, cell-free molecular therapeutics, and applying Artificial Intelligence to fetal surveillance and labour management.
