About NUHS Allied Health & Pharmacy Professionals
NUHS Allied Health and Pharmacy professionals are qualified practitioners and integral members of the holistic care team. With specialised expertise to better health, they practise at the forefront of their professions to enhance quality of life.
Presently, there are 24 Allied Health professions, including Pharmacy, that work across nine NUHS institutions. These 24 Allied Health and Pharmacy professions are diverse in nature, with each profession having a defined scope of practice. They work in a range of settings from primary to long-term care and play important roles in the care of the patient within a multi-disciplinary healthcare team. They work closely with doctors and nurses throughout the comprehensive care continuum and may be involved in the diagnosis, assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and prevention of diseases and/or illnesses, so as to enhance or maintain physical, sensory, psychological, cognitive and social functions for the patient’s overall well-being.
Apart from clinical duties, our Allied Health and Pharmacy professionals participate actively in research, education and health promotion initiatives such as providing workshops and talks for our patients, and in the community. Many of our Allied Health and Pharmacy professionals are also involved in the mentorship and professional development of the next generation of Allied Health Professionals at national and international levels.
NUHS Allied Health Council
The NUHS Allied Health Council was formed in July 2021 to provide leadership in developing world-class Allied Health & Pharmacy professionals. The Council works closely with the stakeholders within NUHS, across the healthcare clusters and the Chief Allied Health Office at the Ministry of Health (MOH).
The Council is currently reviewing the career pathways of Allied Health professionals and developing training roadmaps for the respective professions together with the institutions of higher learning as well as the NUHS Academy.
