Research is a key strategic thrust of NUHS. We invest in resources and manpower to drive research in our institutions, and to create a nurturing and supportive environment for our clinician researchers.

We are a leading Academic Medical Centre (AMC) in Singapore, combining the strengths of academic research from NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine with immense clinical expertise from our healthcare institutions such as National University Hospital, Ng Teng Fong General Hospital, Alexandra Hospital, and National University Polyclinics.

Our national specialists centres comprising the National University Cancer Institute, Singapore (NCIS), National University Heart Centre, Singapore (NUHCS), National University Centre for Oral Health, Singapore (NUCOHS) and Khoo Teck Puat-National University Children's Medical Institute (KTP-NUCMI) under the National University Hospital (NUH) are also focused on advancing research discoveries into better treatment for our patients.

At NUHS, we combine quality patient care with cutting-edge research and innovation. Many of our clinicians are internationally recognised scientists who clinched not only top local awards such as the Singapore Translational Research (STAR) Investigator Awards and Clinician Scientist Awards (CSA), but also various international research awards. Our Clinician-Scientists are also experienced in conducting a wide range of research/clinical studies, including Phase 1 or early Phase 2 trials, as well as medical devices trials.

We have strong Research Enablers. We build our infrastructure and facilities to support research in NUHS. We also leverage various core facilities from the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine to enable and support a wide range of research.
