Dr Tan Chay Hoon obtained her medical degree and Master of Medicine in Psychiatry from the National University of Singapore. She was awarded Master of Medical Education by the University of Dundee in 2011. She is currently an Associate Professor in Pharmacology, National University of Singapore (NUS) and Consultant Psychiatrist at National University Hospital.
Apart from her clinical interests, she is very active in the educational field. She served on the Educational Task Force of Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, on Curriculum Review as well as Faculty Professional Development and helps to coordinate the Mentoring Program. She is a Member of the Centre for Medical Education (CenMED) and is actively involved in students and faculty assessment, Objective-Structured-Clinical-Examination and Objective-Structured-Teacher and Examiner Evaluation.
She has written chapters for numerous medical books, and is on the editorial board of Medical Progress and International Journal of Mental Health. Dr Tan is also an invited manuscript reviewer for various International Neuroscience and Psychiatric Journals.
Dr Tan has been active in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and NUHS Residency Curriculum planning. She was chosen to receive the Faculty Teaching Excellence Award in 2014, University Annual Teaching Excellence Awards in 2002, 2005 and 2014.
