Biosketch

Adjunct Professor Poh Kian Keong is presently a Senior Consultant and Director of Research at the Department of Cardiology, National University Heart Centre, Singapore (NUHCS).

His training in cardiology took place in the Cardiac Department at the National University Hospital. Subsequently, he worked in St Elizabeth Medical Centre, Tufts University School of Medicine, Boston on therapies for cardiovascular conditions, including stem cell therapies. He then proceeded to the Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School for training in echocardiography. He is certified by the National Board of Echocardiography (USA).

Adj Prof Poh graduated with medical degrees from Cambridge University, United Kingdom, obtained his Master of Medicine in Internal Medicine from the National University of Singapore. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, Edinburgh, the American College of Cardiology and the American Society of Echocardiography.

In addition, Adj Prof Poh is also a Past President of the Singapore Cardiac Society and a Specialist / Cardiologist registered with the Academy of Medicine, Singapore.  He is Chair of the American College of Cardiology Assembly of International Governors and a member of the Board of Directors of the American Society of Echocardiography.

He has multiple publications including many in high-impact factor journals (such as the New England Journal of Medicine, JAMA Cardiology, Circulation, Journal of the American College of Cardiology and the European Heart Journal) and is a reviewer for many international medical journals. He is Editorial Director of PULSE, a bi-annual publication of NUHCS and Editor-in-Chief of the Singapore Medical Journal.  He is also a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of the American Society of Echocardiography and Section Editor of the Journal of the American College of Cardiology (Asia).

Professor Poh is regularly invited to speak in multiple conferences, including annual scientific meetings of the American College of Cardiology, the American Society of Echocardiography, the American Heart Association, the European Society of Cardiology and numerous local and regional meetings. He is co-Director of all the 3 American Society of Echocardiography – ASEAN regional meetings and is co-Chair of the American College of Cardiology Asia regional conference in the year 2021.

His interests include general cardiology, lipid disorders, ischaemic heart disease, heart failure, valvular heart disorders, and cardiac imaging including contrast and real-time three-dimensional echocardiography.
