Biosketch

Assistant Professor Kang Giap Swee is presently a Clinical Director and Senior Consultant with the Department of Cardiac, Thoracic and Vascular Surgery (CTVS) at National University Heart Centre, Singapore (NUHCS). He is also an Assistant Professor and Clinical Tutor with the Department of Surgery at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore (NUS).

In 1997, Dr Kang Giap Swee graduated from the University of Malaya, after which, he completed his general surgery training in 2004 by obtaining MRCS (Ireland) & MRCS (Edinburgh). Subsequently, he received the Master of Surgery from the University of Malaya in 2005 & practised as a general surgeon in Malaysia for 2 years before he entered subspecialty training in Cardiothoracic Surgery at National University Hospital, Singapore in 2007. Later on, he obtained MMed in Surgery from NUS in 2008. In January 2011, he was accorded Specialist accreditation in Cardiothoracic Surgery by Ministry of Health of Singapore after being rewarded the FRCSEd in Cardiothoracic Surgery.

Dr Kang is also member of the European Association for Cardio-Thoracic Surgery, The Asian Society for Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery and the Singapore Cardiac Society.
