A/Prof Fong is the Head of the Benign Gynaecology Division in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, NUH. He won a Fellowship programme in Minimally Invasive Surgery and since returning to the National University Hospital in 2004, has been the lead-surgeon in laparoscopic surgery, otherwise known as 'keyhole surgery'.
His current interest is in the treatment of various gynaecological conditions such as endometriosis, fibroids, pelvic floor reconstruction as well as use of microsurgical techniques for e.g. tubal re-anastomosis or fertility enhancing surgery. He has conducted numerous workshops in laparoscopic and robotic surgery and has been an invited speaker to both international and local meetings. He is Programme Director for the Advanced Laparoscopy Course for Gynaecologists at the Advanced Surgical Training Centre (ASTC) at NUH.
A/Prof Fong is also current President of the Obstetrical and Gynaecological Society of Singapore, and Chairman of the Asia Oceania Federation of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Endoscopy Committee.
