Dr Danny Lim graduated in 1998 at the National University of Singapore (NUS) and started his internship at National University Hospital. He began his anaesthesia training in Singapore in 2000, obtained the Masters of Medicine (Anaesthesiology) in 2005 from NUS and completed his advanced specialty training in anaesthesia in 2007, whereupon he joined the Department of Anaesthesia at National University Hospital as a specialist anaesthesiologist.
Dr Lim's subspecialty interest is in Critical Care Medicine; he was awarded the Diploma in Intensive Care from the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine (EDIC) in 2007. In 2008, Dr Lim received the Human Manpower Development Program award from the Ministry of Health for further training in Critical Care Medicine (CCM). He completed a 12-month CCM fellowship as Clinical Fellow with the Critical Care Services at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, USA from 2008 to 2009.
Dr Lim spends about a quarter of his clinical time on critical care medicine; the remainder, on clinical anaesthesia and acute pain. He is also the Associate Program Director for NUHS Transitional Year Residency Program and the PGY-1 program in NUHS. Besides looking after the educational needs of the PGY-1s, Dr Lim is also involved in the medical undergraduate and post-graduate education offered by the Department of Anaesthesia, NUH. Dr Lim is also the Associate Program Director in NUHS Transitional Year Residency Program
Outside NUHS, Dr Lim is an instructor in Advanced Cardiac Life Support with the SGH Institute for Medical Simulation and Education.
