Prof Chong graduated from the National University of Singapore (NUS) (MBBS) before starting his postgraduate training at the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, National University Hospital in 1991. He obtained his MRACOG and MMED (O&G) in 1995. He received his advanced specialist training in the same hospital and became a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore in 1998. Prof Chong was also conferred a Doctor of Medicine degree by NUS in 2006.
Prof Chong was the consultant-in-charge of the Delivery Suite from 2001 to 2014 and has special interest in natural childbirth and breastfeeding.
