Dr Chen Jianping, a Consultant in the Department of Ophthalmology at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital (NTFGH), graduated from the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2010. He completed his Ophthalmology Residency training in Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Singapore. During his residency, he served as the Chief Medical Officer and Deputy Chief Registrar. He was conferred the Master of Medicine (Ophthalmology) in 2017. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (UK) in 2019, and joined the Fellows of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore in the same year.
He practises general ophthalmology with a special interest in retinal diseases. Aside from advanced cataract surgeries, he sub-specialises in vitreoretinal surgery and medical retina.
He regularly participates in the training of medical students, residents, nurses and optometrists at NTFGH. He was awarded the prestigious Dean's Award for Teaching Excellence by NUS 2023 for his efforts. He also has a keen interest in international ophthalmic humanitarian work and is an executive committee member of The Vision Mission, a non-profit organisation that focuses on setting up sustainable eye care programmes in developing countries.
