Community & Public Outreach

In celebration of World Heart Day, the NUHS Cardiovascular Disease Translational Programme (TRP) has planned a series of activities in September to raise awareness on the prevention and intervention of cardiovascular disease in Singapore.

To kick-start the activities for the month, a public outreach event – “Tackling Heart Disease” was held on Saturday, 3 September 2022 at the Health District @ Queenstown. Over 200 residents attended the event where they learnt about heart health and kept updated on the latest medical innovations and research for heart conditions.

Booths set up at the event also showcased research studies such as the PICMAN Study - Early Cardiovascular Disease, SINgapore GERiatric Intervention Study (SINGER) and Obstructive Sleep Apnoea Study.

The event was opened by Prof Roger Foo, Director, Cardiovascular Disease Translational Research Programme, NUHS and graced by Mr Eric Chua, Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth & Ministry of Social and Family Development as well as Prof John Wong, Senior Vice President (Health Innovation & Translation), National University of Singapore.

The outreach is part of NUHS efforts in promoting Healthier SG to help Singaporeans take steps to better health.
