Mr Muthukrishnan Ramaswami

Mr Ramaswami is a finance, technology and operations professional with over 35 years of international experience, including 12 at the Singapore Exchange (SGX), 21 at Citibank and three at Nestle. He holds a Master’s Degree in Mathematics (Honours) from the Birla Institute of Technology & Science, Pilani and a Postgraduate Diploma in Management Studies (Masters in Business Administration) from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.

Mr Ramaswami retired as President of the Singapore Exchange on 1 October 2019. He held various roles there and had broad responsibilities helming Technology, Operations, Product Management & Marketing, and International Coverage with responsibility for all regulated subsidiaries of the Exchange. The subsidiaries included Trading, Clearing and Depository services and covered all asset classes – Securities, Derivatives, Fixed Income and Fixed Exchange. He was also responsible for Market Data, connectivity and Index businesses of the exchange. He joined SGX as Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Operations Officer in 2007 and was appointed Co-President in 2010 and President in May 2012.

Prior to SGX, Mr Ramaswami was with Citigroup where he held progressively senior positions across Operations, Technology and Transaction Banking in various locations including Mumbai, Singapore, Hong Kong, London and New York. In his last role at Citigroup, he was Chief Information Officer with the International Consumer Business of Citigroup’s Global Consumer Bank. The role was based in New York with responsibility for technology across Citi’s International Retail Banking operations.

Currently, Mr Ramaswami also serves on the board of GovTech Singapore and Jurong Town Corporation (JTC). He has previously served on the boards of Singapore’s Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA), Infocomm Development Authority (IDA) and several of SGX’s subsidiaries including the Energy Market Company.
