Dr Peng Li Lee took over the headship of Emergency Medicine Department in 2020 after serving a decade-long (2010-2020) as the founding Program Director of NUHS Emergency Medicine Residency Programme and led the leadership development of chief residents in NUHS as its Associate Designated Institutional Official (ADIO) in 2017-2020. She was also the Director of the inaugural NUHS Residency Leadership Development Program (RLDP).

Dr Peng is appointed by MOH as the Chair of Residency Advisory Committee for Emergency Medicine (EM) where she oversees the development of the specialty of EM through establishing training objectives and outcomes, setting standards in professional exams and monitoring of resident performance. Dr Peng is also a Council Member of the College of Emergency Medicine, Academy of Medicine Singapore (AMS).

Dr Peng has authored book chapters in Guide to Essentials in Emergency Medicine, published by McGraw Hill and teaches various EM topics including neuroimaging, emergency airway, procedural sedation and advanced cardiac life support.

Dr Peng started out as a teacher to her juniors and peers. Her belief that leadership skills are just as important as specialty skills to prepare residents to be future-ready as a specialist led her to develop the year-long leadership program (RLDP) that is contextualised to local resources and strengths as well as aligning to the stage of one's career. Using her skills in personality and EQ profiling tools, she has coached residents to achieve optimal professional performance beyond academic knowledge and technical skills.

Dr Peng has now shifted her focus to managing & supporting a team of EM specialists and leading them to excel individually & collectively in clinical, teaching and scholarly achievements, while at the same time advocating self-care and mental wellness.
