Biosketch

Professor Oh graduated in 1972 from the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom.  After training in general medicine and neurology, he obtained MRCP (UK) in 1974, and worked as a registrar in oncology and respiratory medicine in England.  After research fellowships in cardiovascular clinical pharmacology at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, London, and Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore (USA), he received by examination a Doctorate in Medicine from the University of Cambridge in 1979.  In 1979, he was appointed a Lecturer in the University Medical Unit 2 at Singapore General Hospital.  The National University of Singapore (NUS) appointed him a Professor in 1993. He has published book chapters, and over 80 papers in peer reviewed biomedical journals.  He is a reviewer for journals of internal medicine and clinical pharmacology.  He was Editor-in-chief (2004-10) of the Annals of Academy of Medicine Singapore. 

Professor Oh practises as a Senior Consultant in the Division of Advanced Internal Medicine, National University Hospital.  He teaches general medicine, clinical pharmacology, and preventive cardiovascular medicine. He acts as examiner for the MBBS, and MMed (Internal Medicine) degrees of the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS; and for the MRCP (UK) diploma of the Royal Colleges of Physicians (UK).  He contributed to the Specialist Training Committee for Internal Medicine, and the Specialists Accreditation Board, Ministry of Health, Singapore. He was a member of the Residents’ Advisory Committee of the Ministry of Health, Singapore (2010-2013). Professor Oh was a visiting Senior Consultant for the Centre for Drug Administration, Health Products Division, Health Sciences Authority, Government of Singapore (2008-12).  He was vice-chairman (2008-9) of the Chapter of General Physicians, College of Physicians, Singapore. He chaired (2009-12) for the National Medical Research Committee, a research committee awarding PhD research scholarships and clinical fellowships. Professor Oh chairs the Exit Examination panel for Advanced Internal Medicine, Joint Committee for Specialist Training, MoH (2015 on). He is a member of the executive committee, College of Clinician Educators, College of Physicians, Academy of Medicine Singapore.
