Dr Matthew Cove graduated from Leicester medical school in England. He completed post-graduate internal medicine training in Portland Oregon in the United States. He practiced internal medicine with the Mayo Health System in Western Wisconsin for 2 and half years, before undergoing further training in Critical Care. He completed a fellowship in critical care medicine at the University of Pittsburgh in the United States and then moved to Singapore to practise as an Intensivist.
Prior to starting his fellowship in Pittsburgh, Dr Matthew Cove returned to England to work in a critical care unit where he helped customise and roll out an EMR. He then worked in Singapore as a registrar in critical care for a year. During his time in Singapore, Dr Cove became interested in the application of extracorporeal technology in critically ill patients. During his fellowship, he worked on the development of novel extracorporeal devices under the mentorship of Dr John Kellum; having recently received NMRC funding, he plans to continue this work in Singapore.
