Dr. Kale Sugam Suvarn has been part of the NUHS family for over 23 years. He has provided professional expertise in several subspecialities over the years. His current work allows him to pursue his special interest in Neurosurgical anaesthesia, regional anaesthesia and management of difficult airway among others.
He has always shown active interest in teaching. As Assistant Professor with the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine in past, he has been part of medical curriculum development and has been teacher and examiner at undergraduate examinations. As post graduate teacher as well as past Associate Program Director for anaesthesia, he has been associated with all aspects of postgraduate training.
At various times, he has been actively involved in hospital accreditation process, Mortality review committee, Patient safety, and Medical Device Committee, amongst others.
He has published journal articles in Royal College of Anaesthesia (UK) publications, oral presentations, scientific posters in Asia, Europe, North America and Africa and has written textbook chapters in the field of anaesthesiology. He has also won award for best scientific paper in Europe. He has been invited to give lectures and run courses, mainly in regional anaesthesia in different countries. He has been the external examiner for M.Sc. (Regional Anaesthesia) post graduate degree course in University of East Anglia, UK for several years till date.
He has been career mentor for medical officers, registrars and consultants in Singapore as well as in other countries.
