Dr Joanne Uy received her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree with honours (magna cum laude) from the Cebu Doctors' University, Philippines in 1999, graduating at the top of her class. She went on to garner the 2nd highest score in the 1999 Philippine Dental Licensure Examinations, out of more than 1000 examinees.
Dr Uy's interest in the field of Prosthodontics led her to pursue a 3-year residency programme in the National University of Singapore (NUS). She graduated with a Master in Dental Surgery (Prosthodontics), and was also conferred a Membership in Restorative Dentistry (Prosthodontics) with the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Dr Uy is a registered Dental Specialist in Prosthodontics.
Dr Uy is passionate about teaching, having taught in NUS for 8 years where she won several faculty and university-level teaching awards. In 2014, she moved to NUH to focus on clinical practice, while still retaining a day for teaching undergraduate modules.
Dr Uy is currently Clinical Lead and Senior Consultant in the Discipline of Prosthodontics, NUCOHS. She also holds a joint appointment as Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Dentistry, NUS. Her interest lies in Implant Dentistry, Aesthetic Dentistry as well as management of complex multidisciplinary cases.
