Clinical A/Prof Gerald Chua is a Senior Consultant who specializes in Internal Medicine and Respiratory Medicine and subspecialializes in Intensive Care Medicine. He practises in both the Departments of Medicine and Intensive Care Medicine at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital.
He obtained his Membership of the Royal College of Physicians in 1999 and was awarded the European Diploma in Intensive Care in 2004. He was elected to Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh University Medical Centre in 2011.
Clinical A/Prof Chua's clinical interest is in the integration of care for COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) patients, spanning primary care, specialty care, intensive care and palliative care. His educational interests are in multi-professional education in acute care, crisis resource management, mechanical ventilation and medical professionalism.
He has been appointed Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine, NUS Medicine. He chairs the Intensive Care Medicine Sub-specialty Training Committee and the Master of Medicine (Internal Medicine) Committee. At an international level, he represents the Division of Graduate Medical Studies, NUS on the MRCP Part 1 Examination Board of the Federation of the Royal College of Physicians (UK).
Clinical A/Prof Chua formally served on the Singapore Medical Association's Centre for Medical Ethics and Professionalism as its Executive Director, and continues to contributes to the Singapore Armed Forces as a member of its Respiratory Medicine Specialist Advisory Board.
