Biosketch

A graduate from India, Dr Ashish Ranjan Satapathy, completed his PG Diploma in Anaesthesia at KMC Manipal, where he was awarded the Gold Medal for being the best outgoing student of his batch. Dr Satapathy then went to the UK to pursue higher studies in anaesthesia and completed the coveted training programme with the Royal College of Anaesthetists and achieved his Fellowship of the Royal College of Anaesthetists (FRCA) in 2009.

During this time, he found his passion for Regional Anaesthesia and completed his one year fellowship in the super speciality and successfully cleared the European Diploma in Regional Anaesthesia (EDRA) in 2010. After moving to Singapore in 2014, he has continued his passion for teaching and training in anaesthesia, especially regional anaesthesia for trauma & orthopaedics, and has helped advance the speciality at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital since then.

Apart from clinical work, Dr Satapathy is the lead clinician for Acute Pain Services and has held various other posts in the past including Clinical Director in Anaesthesia (2020-2022) and Regional Anaesthesia lead in the department for several years. He has also represented his department in Trauma and OT Committees.

Awards

1. Best poster award at the SSAPS meeting, 3rd of November 2011.

2. Recipient of Thota Memorial Excellence Award (GOLD MEDAL) for the best outgoing Post Graduate Diploma student in Anaesthesia at Kasturba Medical College and Hospital in the year 2004.
