Biosketch

Dr Amanda Zain was awarded the distinguished Public Service Commission (Medicine) Scholarship to study medicine, and graduated with MBBS at National University of Singapore. She further obtained her Master of Medicine (Paediatrics) at NUS and completed her paediatrics training in National University Hospital, Singapore. Her clinical practice involves all areas of general paediatrics, with special interests in paediatric emergency and sustainable healthcare.

During her time in residency training, Dr Amanda served as Chief Resident of the Paediatric Residency Programme from 2016 to 2017. She was selected to be part of the NUH Residency Leadership Development Programme. Dr Amanda is actively involved in teaching medical, dental undergraduate and postgraduate students. A clinical tutor with the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore, her teaching contributions were recognised with the NUS Medicine Special Recognition Award in 2020.

Dr Amanda has been involved in a number of quality improvement initiatives, including a twin pilot project in biohazardous waste reduction in the paediatric wards and operating theatres. She serves as Assistant Dean of Sustainability at NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and is the Green QI module lead of the NUH Residency Quality Improvement and Patient Safety Distinction Programme (QIPS). She is actively involved in clinical sustainability initiatives and takes part in organizing, moderating and participating in various professional forums centered around climate change and sustainable healthcare.
