Klebsiella Liver Abscess is an infection of the liver that develops when bacteria from your own gut travel via the bloodstream and cause a collection of fluid called an abscess to develop in the liver.
Klebsiella Liver Abscess may cause fever and abdominal pain. Occasionally the bacteria can also infect the eyes causing redness, pain and loss of vision in an eye.
Klebsiella Liver Abscess is usually diagnosed via blood tests and abdominal imaging (ultrasound or CT scan).
Little is known about why some people develop this condition, but people with Diabetes mellitus are known to be at higher risk.
Management often involves drainage of the abscess, and involves at least a month of antibiotics which is usually given via a vein.
