NUHS celebrated Nurses Day on 29 July 2022 with a unique gift for nurses. A new orchid species, called Dendrobium Incredible NUHS nurses, is the first national flower to be named after nurses, in recognition of their unwavering dedication in the fight against the pandemic. The symbolic act of naming an orchid is a tradition in Singapore used to honour distinguished individuals and organisations or commemorate major events.
A total of 106 nurses received the NUHS Nightingale Award for their excellence and contributions towards the nursing profession. The Centre for Nursing Excellence (CoNE) was launched on the same day to develop nurses professionally.
