Research Objectives


The Gerontology Research Programme (GRP) aims to increase current understanding of aging and health transition and to provide the scientific information needed for formulating strategies of disease prevention and health promotion in the elderly.

Mar 2009: Research Project launch “Successful Ageing: Characterizing its Multiple Dimensions in Singaporean Seniors and the Development and Validation of a Measurement Scale for Healthcare and Promotion Programmes”
Apr 2008: Research collaboration with Shanghai Jiao Tong University & Shanghai Mental Health Center
Mar 2008: Commenced recruitment of participants from South West and South Central Singapore for the Singapore Longitudinal Study (SLAS-2)
Feb 2008: Research project launch “Identification of New Biomarkers for Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI)”
Jan 2008: Research project launch “Randomized controlled trial of community-based nutritional, physical and cognitive training intervention programmes for at risk frail elderly”
