Grant Extension and Variation
Researchers can download Extension and Variation forms from the respective funding agencies to make changes to their awarded projects.
Please submit the duly signed hardcopy of the correct form to NUHS Research Office.

Note:
Variation
-
Variations with cumulative amount not exceeding 10% of the total grant (direct costs) awarded for the project, the Research Director or his/her designated authority can approve the grant variation.

Approval from NMRC is required if:
i. Cumulative amount exceeds 10% of the total grant (direct costs)
ii. The request is for something that was not originally approved in the budget regardless of the cumulative variation amount.
Extension
-
For IRG grants, the Host Institution has the authority to extend the Term of the Funding for a period capped at 1 year, provided that there is no additional funding required and that there are no oustanding Yearly Progress Reports. Any further and subsequent extension requests have been submitted to NMRC for consideration at least 3 months before the grant completion date. All submission out of time must be accompanied by an explanatory letter. NMRC reserves the right to reject any requests that is out of time.

For EDG/NIG grants, Host Institution has the authority to approve the first extension request. All the second/subsequent extension requests are subjected to NMRC approval regardless of the duration of approved first extension. |
AcRF Tier 1 & 2 Grants |

Note:
-
Requests for project extension should be made only in the expected final year of project duration. All requests should reach the Approving Authority (for FRC - VDR office or for URC - DRA or for Tier 2 - MOE) at least 3 months before project end date. The total period of grant extension is capped at 6 months, unless there are very compelling reasons to extend for a longer period. |
A*STAR Grants |

A*STAR grants change requests are to be made via the iGrant online system.

Note:
Extension: Request for project extension should be made in the final year but before the last 6 months of the original completion date. The research office shall reject all the earlier and late requests made outside of this period. |

For NUHS Start-up Grant, Cross-Department Grant, Clinician Research Grant etc

Other Grants (except grants with specified project management forms) |

For projects funded by internal and external grantors (except SERC, A*STAR and AcRF, MOE), all requests for project variation must include a letter/email of consent from the relevant grantor(s).
