The Singapore Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) and the Polish Ministry of Science & Higher Education (MSHE) jointly announced the first joint call for proposals on September 2005. This is through the auspices of the MOU signed between A*STAR and Poland's then Ministry of Science and Information Society Technologies (MSIST).
Two joint Calls for Proposals (CFP) have also been launched in the following themes:
- a) Chemicals, Materials and Intelligent Systems (2005)
- b) Information Technology, and Energy and Its Resources (2007)
In the first Call for proposals, Singapore and Poland each committed up to 3 million Euros (approx S$6.6 million) to support eight (8) collaboration projects over a 3-year period in Materials, Chemistry and Intelligent systems. A forum on Materials, Chemistry & Intelligent Systems was organised in Poland in February 2007 for researchers to share about the ongoing projects.
Keen interests from Singapore and Polish researchers and the successful progress of the first Call have led to the issue of a 2nd joint Call in March 2007.
