The Cross-Faculty Research Grant for Interdisciplinary Research is a research grant from the Office of the Deputy President (Research & Technology). Projects can involve all areas of research but projects involving ageing are particularly encouraged. For more information on the grant, please refer to the attached write-up.
All applications will be subjected to a peer review process by the Cross-Faculty Research Grant Expert Panel appointed by the Deputy President (Research & Technology), and funding is administered by ODPRT Office.

Application Criteria
1. The Principal Investigators (PIs) must be NUS academic staff (Asst Prof / Assoc Prof / Prof) from at least two different Faculties/Schools and with different academic backgrounds.
2. Project teams should not be already collaborating.
3. Funding requested should be for new research ideas and not for supplementing existing projects/ collaborations.
4. Priority will be given to newly-recruited and junior academic staff members as lead applicants.
5. Only one project per set of PIs can be submitted.
6. Successful applicants of previous Cross-Faculty grants can apply, but will required to show how the first award had strengthened cross-disciplinary research (e.g. by generation of additional research funding).
7. Funds cannot be used for travel unless essential to the aims of the project.
Terms and Conditions
- The grant is a seed fund. The project must be new and not concurrently supported by other funding.
- PIs are given flexibility in use of grant funds for project purpose, subject to NUS guidelines and regulations.
- The grant cannot be used for travel unless essential to the aims of the project.
Schedule of Annual Call
1 call a year, usually in August.
Application Procedure
PI (Main Applicant, "Applicant 1") or Co-PI ("Applicant 2") from SoM to submit a copy of your application form and the Grant Endorsement Form through your Department to NUHS Research Office by Thursday, 22 September 2011.
