The 2nd Grant Call from the Singapore Millennium Foundation (SMF) is now open.
The areas of research which the SMF could consider supporting are provided in the table below:

• Enhancing user (man-machine) interfaces- a multi-disciplinary approach
• Development of IT tools for special education based cognitive neuroscience

| B. Ageing/Palliative Care |
• Cost-benefit analysis of palliative care
• Identifying:
o the gaps in palliative care at home, the community and the hospitals
o the needs of the Community and the required structures for care at home
o the gaps in the required number of healthcare workers required, training and structures required to enhance healthcare

| C. Non-Medical Bioscience |
• Finding solutions from Nature ("Biomimetics") for Sustainable/ "Green" industry)
|
| D. Other Areas of Research |
• Initiating & Influencing Behaviour Change in Asian Populations in relation to health maintenance issues
• Projects related to food security, with emphasis on research that could lead to prototyping
• Areas of research for sustainable food production in Singapore:
o Production of green energy from poultry waste, food waste and
o ther agricultural wastes.-"the production of energy from agricultural wastes will enable our farms to be carbon neutral and support zero carbon farming methods"
o Sustaining agricultural land through Research in Biodynamic farming.
o Land based aquaculture-Research on aquaculture engineering to lower the cost of waste management in land based aquaculture

Application Criteria
The proposals in the above areas should preferably be in applied research, and must have direct relevance and are beneficial to Singapore. Please note that this grant is only applicable to NUS researchers.
