With the increase in expectations for translational research and commercialisation, NUHS recognizes the need for stronger collaboration between clinical and basic researchers on campus as well as industry partners.
NUHS Bench to Bedside (B2B) and Bench to Bedside to Product (BBP) grant is a new internal grant with aims to put our researchers in a better position to apply for external competitive grants.

Eligibility
B2B:
1. Each application will require two PIs: at least 1 Clinical Researcher and 1 Basic Science Researcher
2. Both PIs must hold a primary appointment in NUHS, be salaried by NUHS
3. The Clinical researcher must be a registrar or above
4. The Basic Science researcher must be an Assistant Professor or above and belong in either of the following two categories:
a) Basic science departments (Anatomy, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Pharmacology, Physiology); OR
b) Basic Scientists working on basic science projects in other NUHS departments.
5. Researchers from overseas institutions or private companies can participate as collaborators
6. Both PIs will be able to request for funds in the proposal
BBP:
1. Each application will require the combination of 1 Clinical Researcher/1 Basic Science Researcher + 1 Industry Partner
2. PI must hold a primary appointment in NUHS, be salaried by NUHS
3. The Clinical researcher must be a registrar or above
4. The Basic Science researcher must be an Assistant Professor or above and belong in either of the following two categories:
a) Basic science departments (Anatomy, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Pharmacology, Physiology); OR
b) Basic Scientists working on basic science projects in other NUHS departments.
5. Researchers from overseas institutions can participate as collaborators
Deliverables
• B2B: Basic Science and clinical PIs must show complementarity of the basic science and clinical components of the research project.
• BBP: To show complementarity towards commercialisation
• It is expected that the results generated by the research will allow PIs to apply for more substantial research grant funding at the National level.
• PIs must ensure a utilization rate of 95% is reached by end of each financial year.
• A progress report will have to be submitted at the end of each year with a final report to be submitted within 1 month from completion date.
