NMRC Cooperative Basic Research Grant (CBRG)

Cooperative Basic Research Grants (CBRGs) are provided to non-clinicians researchers to conduct research proposals in basic and translational clinical research that are relevant to human health as well as research that looks at the causes, consequences, diagnosis and treatment of human diseases. The CBRGs also aims to promote basic biomedical sciences (BMS) research collaboration across institutions in Singapore.

Funding Information

Capped Amount Maximum Duration
$1.5M* 3 years

 * with additional indirect costs provided to the Host Institution of the lead PI.

Eligibility

• Each grant application must be led by non-clinical PI from the extramural community (non-A*STAR) and must have at least one non-clinical Co-I from another institution (any publicly funded institutions in Singapore including A*STAR institutions).  Please click here to download the list of eligible institutions.

• Only one Principal Investigator (PI) is allowed per application.

Definition of non-clinical PI

The non-clinical PI should at the point of application possess a minimum academic qualification of a PhD or the equivalent training.

Exceptions will be made on a case by case basis for applicants who are MBBS/MD/BDS with or without a PhD provided that they fulfill the eligibility criteria listed below.

Such exceptions on the eligibility to apply as the non-Clinical PI should be made at the point of application and once approved the individual can only apply as a non-clinical PI (e.g. CBRGs), and not in another investigator-led research grant for the clinical PI (e.g. IRGs). However, this does not restrict the individual to participate as collaborator in other grant programmes.

However, the individual is allowed to switch from non-clinical PI to Clinical PI at certain point of time, provided he is not holding two different grant types concurrently as a non-Clinical PI and a Clinical PI. Please fill up this declaration form only if you would like to be considered under the CS-IRG/CBRG as an exception case
