Biostatistics and Pharmacometric Unit |
The Clinical Biostatistics and Pharmacometric Unit of IMU is a one-stop centre that provides data management, biostatistical and computing capabilities to support high quality clinical trials or studies from conception through to completion, culminating in publications of international repute. The fundamental objective of the unit is to generate reliable evidence on the outcome and treatment of a wide range of diseases, especially cancer and cardiovascular diseases, by facilitating and collaborating in high quality clinical trials research within NUHS. We seek to promote clinical trials research activity by providing statistical input in the design, monitoring and analysis of clinical trials.
As an essential statistical expert collaborator from conception to completion of study, we seek to ensure that the trials are conducted and reported according to the guidelines of Good Clinical and Statistical Practices, and target the publication of the manuscripts in reputed international journals. The unit will also undertake pharmacometric research involving population-based modeling. We serve to provide not only biostatistical capabilities to facilitate and collaborate in high quality clinical research, but also to develop state-of-the-art methods appropriate for solving specific medical research problems.
As such, a further objective is to promote biostatistical research, addressing pertinent statistical issues arising from clinical collaborations with medical colleagues. Statistical methodologies relating to study design, statistical methods of analysis and other clinical trials or pharmacometric related issues, will be developed to advance research that improves patient care.
