Our Respiratory Medicine Senior Residency Program is a three-year program run as a partnership between the National University Health System and Jurong Health System. We aim to provide high-quality training for future leaders in Respiratory Medicine and Medical Intensive Care, who will excel in clinical work, research, and teaching.
Description of our training sites
National University Hospital (NUH): An ~1250-bed Academic Medical Center that provides advanced, leading-edge medical care and serves as the primary teaching site for the Respiratory Medicine Senior Residency Program. Equipped with state-of-the-art facilities as well as dedicated and well-trained staff, it is a major referral center that delivers tertiary care for a range of medical and surgical specialties. NUH is an integral part of the National University Health System, is affiliated with the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, and offers one of the finest medical programs in the Asia Pacific region. The Division of Respiratory & Critical Care Medicine, Department of Medicine is well-staffed by Pulmonologists and Intensivists, with varied subspecialty interests in Critical Care Medicine, Interventional Pulmonology, Difficult Asthma, Interstitial Lung Disease, Sleep Medicine, and Smoking Cessation. The Division has a strong educational and research background, and is a conducive and nurturing environment for the training of Pulmonology specialists.
Jurong Health Services (JurongHealth): JurongHealth consists of Ng Teng Fong General Hospital and Jurong Community Hospital. Ng Teng Fong General Hospital is a 700-bed hospital twinned with the 400-bed Jurong Community Hospital to provide holistic care for patients. The JurongHealth rotation aims to provide a fulfilling learning experience to complement the NUH training program. The rotation will enable the fellow to achieve their clinical competencies in cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET), integrated chronic obstructive lung disease care management, pulmonary rehabilitation and sleep medicine. Furthermore, the rotation will enable the fellow to consolidate their general respiratory medicine competencies and to acquire clinical practice experience in a non-academic hospital setting.
