Dr Qasim AHMED

Dr Qasim Ahmed is a Senior Consultant at the Department of Pathology, National University Hospital, National University Health System. He graduated from the King Edward Medical College, Punjab University, Pakistan in 1985 with MB,BS. He trained in Histopathology at the Departments of Pathology, Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, and Middlesbrough General Hospital, UK. He later completed Residency in Pathology at Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio, USA obtaining American Board of Pathology in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology in 1996. Dr Ahmed further completed Fellowship in Surgical Pathology and Cytopathology from the University Hospitals of Cleveland, Ohio, and received Added Qualification in Cytopathology from the American Board of Pathology in 1997. He has been a member of the College of American Pathologists since 1997.



His interests include fine needle aspiration cytology. He joined the department earlier this year from Shaukat Kanum Memorial Cancer Hospital & Research Center where he was involved in running a busy FNA service. He is currently the Head of Cytopathology section and is helping to establish FNA clinic in NUH. He is the Co-Director with Professor Aileen Wee in the upcoming Diagnostic Cytopathology Workshop. He has delivered invited lectures at scientific meetings and conducted pathology workshops.



He is actively involved in the training of postgraduate trainees at NUH, and in teaching the undergraduate medical, dental and pharmacy students at the National University of Singapore.
