Consultant Pathologist and Assistant Professor

 

Dr Nga is a Consultant Pathologist and Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology of the National University of Health System. She has obtained dual Fellowship both from the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia and the United Kingdom, completing her postgraduate training in surgical pathology in 2005. Her subspeciality area of interest is in Cytopathology. For that, she completed a Cytopathology Fellowship at Pathwest QE II Hospital in 2007, under the gracious mentorship of doctors Felicity Frost and Greg Sterrett.



Dr Nga has a keen interest in teaching, both for undergraduates and postgraduates. She is also involved in giving lectures to postgraduate students in dentistry, as well as in other medical disciplines such as oncology and endocrinology in pathology related fields.



In addition, she has been a speaker at several loco-regional meetings, including the biennial Cytopathology Workshop organized by the National University of Singapore, and at the Annual Thai - Japanese Workshop in Diagnostic Cytopathology, the Asia-Pacific Basic EUS Hands-On Course in January 2009 and the International Workshop on Thyroid and Parathyroid Surgery in March 2009.

 

Her areas of research interest include thyroid cytopathology, tissue microarray based studies on soft tissue sarcomas, gastrointestinal stromal tumours and lung cancer. She also serves as a reviewer for several journals, including Pathology, Journal of Clinical Pathology and Annals of the Academy of Medicine (Singapore).
