Dr Tan is an orthopaedic surgeon with special interest in the treatment of sports injuries. He was a SEA games national representative for Judo during his junior college days and hopes to continue his involvement with sports by treating athletes with injuries. Getting athletes back on their feet and back on the field gives him great satisfaction. Dr Tan graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1998. He attained his postgraduate qualifications in 2004 (Member of Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, Master of Medicine Orthopaedic Surgery). He was the top scorer in his fellowship examination in 2007 (Fellowship of Royal College of Surgeons Orthopaedic Surgery Edinburgh). Dr Tan is currently involved in research projects using stem cell therapy for cartilage damage. He runs a clinic in the SAF Military Medical Institute taking care of full time national servicemen.
