Asst Prof Gabriel Liu is a spine surgeon who specializes in degenerative, traumatic, neoplastic, and congenital disorders of the spine, as well as general orthopaedics.
Asst Prof Liu completed his medical training at the University College Dublin, Ireland in 1994. He subsequently served as a Demonstrator of Anatomy, and completed his Masters of Science in Human Anatomy in 1996. He completed his surgical training in Ireland in 2000. He started Advanced Surgical Training in Orthopaedic Surgery in Singapore in 2000, completing this in 2004.
Asst Prof Liu joined the Department of Orthopaedics at NUH in 2004 as an Associate Consultant. He returned in April 2007 upon completing a one-year clinical fellowship in Spinal Surgery at Washington University, St Louis, Missouri, USA.
Presently, Asst Prof Liu serves on numerous
committees in the Orthopaedic Spine field. He is a frequent speaker at
international meetings. With his wealth of experience and knowledge, he is
actively serving as course director of advanced cervical spine surgery and
advanced spinal deformity surgery, and is responsible for training local and
regional surgeons in this highly specialised field of spine surgery.
Asst Prof Liu's research interests are in degenerative spinal disease.
