A/Prof Joseph Thambiah specialises in the management of spinal disorders including cervical and lumbar surgery, scoliosis surgery and artificial disc replacement. As Head of the Division of Musculoskeletal Trauma, he also manages simple and complex limb injuries, as well as fractures involving the pelvis and acetabulum. A/Prof Thambiah completed his medical degree at the University of Singapore in 1983. He trained in Orthopaedic Surgery at the Singapore General Hospital, obtained his FRCS and MMed in General Surgery in 1988, and completed his training in Orthopaedic Surgery at NUH. He is a fellowship-trained spinal surgeon. He has also undergone fellowship training in Orthopaedic Trauma Surgery. A/Prof Thambiah is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching at NUS.
