General Surgery

Overview

The University Surgical Cluster at NUHS has outstanding faculty members. Each division in general surgery has leaders in their respective fields who are accessible, approachable and are outstanding teachers.

The program in General Surgery is designed to provide a combination of clinical experience, didactic teaching and opportunities for research.

Residents will receive broad-based training that ensures competency in gastrointestinal, endocrine, breast, trauma, minimally invasive and oncologic surgery. Through this broad-base training in the Common trunk General Surgery programme, residents will be well prepared to specialise in other programmes such as Cardiothoracic Surgery, Hand Surgery, Neurosurgery, Paediatric Surgery, and Urology, all of which are available at NUHS.

During the rotations, residents in our programme will learn surgical skills at the state of the art Advanced Surgical training centre which houses cutting-edge technological equipment and learning tools.

Our goal is to train future academic surgeons of the highest professional, ethical and academic standard.
