Tea Session

Tea Session (for HO & MO) on 22 September 2012, Saturday from 2-3.30pm.

Thank you for organizing sessions like today's to help us better understand Family Medicine Residency Program which NUHS offers, and for the opportunity to interact with core faculty members and current residents. The open house in August and today's session has helped to clarify some questions I have regarding the program.

I am interested in Family Medicine as a career for a few reasons. I feel that family physicians tend to spend more time with each patient and build a relationship with each patient and his family, which helps with continuity of care.

I am inspired to do this for my patients and I feel practicing medicine in this way helps me remember the reasons I wanted to be a physician in the first place. In addition, I hope to be involved in primary prevention of chronic diseases in the primary care setting as I feel there is still a demand and need for this in our local community. Thank you! ~ Anonymous

Tea Session on 10 September 2011

A tea session was organised on 10 September, 2011, Saturday noon for those interested doctors to find out more about NUHS FM Residency program but who had missed the recent NUHS Residency Open House.

Five doctors also met up with A/Prof Goh Lee Gan & A/Prof Tan Boon Yeow for the one-to-one career counselling.  Besides the presentation on the strengths of NUHS Residency Program and FM Program by A/Prof Shirley Ooi (DIO), our FM resident Dr Wang Mingchang also regaled the audience with his candid and humourous sharing on his life as a resident.

After the tea session, Dr Eugene Chan, one of the participants, gave the following feedback:
