Our Mission
The radiology residency training program prepares residents to become well-rounded radiologists as well as for the Fellowship Examination of the Royal College of Radiology (FRCR). We also develop residents to become excellent clinician educators, clinician researchers or clinician leaders depending on their areas of interest.
Our Teaching Philosophy
We review the curriculum vitae and work experience of all our residents so as to tailor their training program to their individual needs. During the residency period, the strengths of the residents will be identified and developed. At the same time discovered weaknesses, if any, will be addressed accordingly.
We place great emphasis on regular in-house electronic-based learning and consultant-led tutorials. There are also up to 20 clinico-radiological rounds a week. There is a wealth of clinical materials and residents will have no lack of exposure to cases. Clinical work is consultant-led with residents introduced to concepts of indications for a radiological examination, radiological anatomy, radiological pathology, performing and reporting of radiological examinations in a graded and sequential fashion.
We supervise the progress of trainees through mandatory monthly meetings with their mentors and objective assessment through our in-house electronic based tutorials. Individual feedback is given to residents regarding their progress. Senior residents are encouraged to teach their junior colleagues. Both junior and senior residents are also given opportunities for clinical research and to submit abstracts for local and international conferences. All trainees will be given assistance and guidance to publish their academic endeavours.
It is our belief that all residents have the potential to achieve excellence in their chosen field of specialisation. It is also our belief that our residency program plays an important role in their journey to attain self-realisation and actualisation.
