Our Vision
The NUHS Anaesthesiology Residency Program strives for excellence in all aspects of residency training. The cornerstone of our academic mission is the training of high-quality, well-rounded specialists in Anaesthesia, Critical Care and Pain Medicine. Our mission is the dedicated education of our Residents in all areas of knowledge, clinical & technical skills, and professional attitudes related to Anaesthesia. Graduate anaesthetists meet the requirements to become certified by the Master of Medicine (MMed), Anaesthesia Singapore and/or Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA) as specialist anaesthetists, who are proficient to practice anaesthesiology independently in either an academic institution or in private clinical practice.
Clinical competency is an expectation of every Resident at the end of residency training and this only forms part of a Resident’s development. We want to educate a generation of Anaesthetists who are compassionate, just and show genuine care for their patients, colleagues and the future generation of learners. Every Resident must possess the hallmark of NUHS and demonstrate our TRICE values. This is the vision of our Program.

Our Logo represents the top-down view on the foundations of excellent Anaesthesia training. The shaded box is the Cornerstone, where all foundations of career development will meet. We believe in laying good foundations in Residency training and there are no shortcuts to being a good Anaesthetist.
The five unshaded stones represent our TRICE values (Teamwork, Respect, Integrity, Compassion, and Excellence). The closeness of the stones represents our Fellowship, a bond that celebrates success and endures all trials.
The caduceus reminds us of our mission as compassionate Physicians, whereby our Patients, fellow Doctors and Program comes first before Self.
