1991 - World's 1st successful birth of twins using co-culture
1995 - 1st minimally invasive coronary bypass surgery in region
1996 - Region's 1st birth of 2 sets of twins from frozen embryo donations
1996 - Region's 1st cross-hand transplantation
1997 - 1st ‘split liver' transplant in Southeast Asia
1997 - Asia's 1st open heart surgery on a ‘beating heart'
2001 - NUH & SGH jointly performed world's 1st successful cord blood transplant on Thalassaemia Major patient
2002 - 1st micro-incision vitreoretinal surgery in Southeast Asia
2005 - Asia's 1st bone marrow & kidney transplant on the same patient
2006 - 1st Simultaneous Bilateral Cochlear Implant on young patient in Singapore
2007 - First-in-man clinical trials- ‘new generation' cancer drug, which can suppress tumour growth, tested on humans for the first time
2008 - First non-surgical aorta expansion performed in Singapore
2008 - First Robotic Surgery for Gynaecological Cancer in SE Asia.

New generation of keyhole surgery for abdominal surgeries leaving virtually no scar.

Faster, accurately targeted radiation therapy for cancer patients.
